The water inlet valve is a solenoid-operated switch and when it is energized by electrical power, water is released from the supply line through the water valve and into the compact icemaker mold or the water dispenser.

No water going to ice maker or water dispenser
Part showed up in two days exactly as ordered. Simply swap water lines and green and yellow connectors. Everything works like brand new.

Dripping water dispenser and ice maker water chute freezing up
Note: This refridgerator has 2 water valves. One instruction recommended replacing the single valve unit which did not stop the water drip. Water off and unplugged.Removed the rear cardboard panel and then two screws that held the twin valve in. Unplugged the two color coordinated electrical plugs and then the three water lines. One line in the bottom went back on the new valve like it came off the old one. The other two lines were a permanent attachment so I cut them off with the razor. I pushed each of those lines into the new provided threaded connectors. Make sure you push them all the way through and seat them in the new valves inlet. They are a bit tight but will slide on with a little pressure. Reattached valve to refridgerator, turned water on to check for leaks before pluggin in. Replaced cover and everything works perfectly. Finally no drips!

No water in door and not making ice.
Changed both single & dual water valves. really easy to change,just mark water lines by dual valve with correct color when you take them off the old valve so you don't mix them up when installing.
