Ice maker quit functioning.
Removed old ice maker. Checked solenoid on water supply main valve and drinking water and ice maker supply. Found them to be alright. Ordered and installed new ice maker. The connection to the refrigerator was somewhat longer than the original, so had problems connecting, but finally connected. Used hair dryer to make sure that the w ater line into the ice maker was thawed out. Ice maker began making ice in about thirty minutes. Connection came apart once and had to reconnect, otherwise was an repair.

Water leaking profusely into ice collection basket
1.) Turn off water to refrigerator and unplug refrigerator from electrical outlet. 2) Activate water dispenser on front of freezer to ensure that water is out of refrigerator lines. 3.) Remove ice bucket. 4.) Loosen, do not remove, two 7/16" hex screws on inside wall of freeze. Use a nut driver. It's easier than trying to use a 1/4 ratche t and extension. 5.) Lift ice maker from those screws. 6.) Temporarily supporting the ice maker on on the ice bucket support bracket, disconnect the electrical connector from the ice maker to the connector protruding from the inside wall of the freezer. 7.) Remoe the ice maker. 8.) Connect the new icemaker to the connector inside the freezer, and hang the new ice maker on the two screws left in place from removal. 9.) Make a space for the new electrical cord and connector. That is the hard part. It doesn't seem to want to go anywhere, and the new unit has a longer cord than the old unit. You have to find a good place for the new cord/connector. 10.) Tighten the two screws with nut driver. 11.) Reinstall the ice bucket under the ice maker. 12.) Plug in the refrigerator. 13.) Turn on the water to refrigerator. 14.) Test to ensure water is coming out of the dispenser. 15.) Turn the freezer to setting to a very cold setting, well past the "factory setting," or it will take forever to make its first batch of ice. 16.) Ensure that the new ice maker is not leaking into the ice bucket -- like the old ice maker did. 17.) Wait a good 24 hours for the new freezer setting to affect the ice production. 18.) Keep ice trays in your freezer (remember them?) 19) Start your ice production with emptying the ice trays into the bucket.
