igniter switch replacement
The repair should have been easy, in theory, but the screws securing the burners were "frozen" in place. The first two screw heads broke off, then the screw driver head twisted from the amount of torque required. This means the burners can't be removed, which means access to the interior of the unit is blocked, so the cooktop can't be r epaired. This is bad engineering, and a shame that the unit must be scrapped.

One knob would not ignite burner.
Unplugged power. Removed top of cooktop using torx tool, removed ignitor switches from each gas valve and disconnected the wiring. installed new ignitor switches onto each gas valve and connected wiring. All connectors were the correct size and type. Plugged in power cord and tested. Worked like new. This was very easy.
