stripped the worm gear, fixed bushings
I opened the mixer and determined that the worm gear had failed, as designed, to save the other gears. There was also oil separated from the grease and it needed replaced. The Transmission case gasket was damaged and must have been from the time it was built. I removed the grease with putty knife and kept I on a plastic plate until the pa

rts came in (to determine the amount needed when I replaced it.) I used the punch to remove the two pins needed with light tap from hammer. I left the mixer in pieces on the counter until the parts arrived. I replaced the gear and all other parts and placed fresh grease in the mixer. I had to adjust the beater, too. I had removed one of the bushings by mistake. When mixer was back together it would not start. IT TOOK SOME TIME BUT I FOUND ANOTHER WEB SITE THAT EXPLAINED HOW TO REPLACE THE BUSHING. TAKE A FLASHLIGHT AND LOOK INTO THE SQUARE BRUSH HOLDER. THERE IS A DETANT IN THE HOLDER. THE SHAVED SIDE OF THE BRUSH NEEDS TO SLIP PAST THE DETENT TO BE ABLE TO TOUCH THE AMATURE. Once that was done, it worked great. Very smooth with new gear and grease.

Transmission case developed a leak.
I just disassembled the mixer (I had an exploded view sheet) and cleaned the surfaces, applied the gasket with a small amount of sealer and re-assembled the unit. Repair was a complete success. Pretty much a no- brainer. Thanks for the FAST service.

Gear stripped due more than normal useage
Dissembled mixer found gear had stripped. Ordered new gasket, gear and washer. Stated reassembly damaged new gasket and had to another. Started reassembly minor alignment adjustments. Put in more food grade grease. Put brushes back in no rotation of motor. Found out that bushes have go in exactly right. Plugged in and it works fine.

stripped out the worm gear
This is a relatively easy repair. There are a number of steps to getting access to the gear and bracket but easy to figure out. Once the assembly is opened up the gear bracket is exposed and three screws removes it and reinstalls the new piece. Once it is exposed I recommend cleaning the inside of all the old grease and putting fresh i

n. I also recommend replacing the Transmission Case Gasket. Both can be purchased from this site. Then reassemble. Prior to putting the back housing piece on, which is the one of the last pieces take a few minutes to look on uTube for instructions on how adjust the speeds of the mixer. This is also very simple and frankly shouldn't be overlooked. Many mixers seem to loose "speeds" over time. A tune up repairs all the presets so the mixer is running at the appropriate speeds and all the speeds. Mine seemed to not have two of the speeds, and initially I thought I had lost some gears. But a tune up restored them.

Worm Gear had been stripped
Set up my computer on the table, followed the directions on the video, pausing at each step along the way. Even though the model in the video wasn't the same as mine, it was very easy to follow.
