Product Description

This OEM drum support roller kit contains the parts needed to replace one roller on your dryer. This kit includes one drum roller and two bearings. Most dryers use two drum rollers, and it is recommended to change both at once for optimal performance. The drum support roller holds the drum in position while it spins on the support wheels. It rotates on the roller shaft located on the rear bulkhead. It may need to be replaced if your dryer is noisy, will not tumble, leaves marks on clothes, or will not start. This part is prone to wear and tear, and if broken will need to be replaced. This part measures roughly 3 inches in diameter and is made of plastic, metal, and rubber. Each kit is sold individually (two would be needed to replace both drum support rollers, which is recommended).

Dryer makes a huge noise. Was told it is probably the blower wheel. Problem is I believe there are two models which both claim to fit this model. One is threaded and one, not. How do I know which one to order?
For model number MDG8426agw

"Sqealing" noise when drum rotating
Disconnected power supply, removed front panel, removed tub support bracket, removed electrical lines from light and door switch( to have better access to install front guide kit), removed belt, removed drum, removed old rollers, installed new rollers and rest of installation was in reverse order of taking machine apart. In order to insta ll the front guide kit(which I've never done before), I had to watch the installation instructions via you-tube. This was a tremendous aide as the instructions were simple and very adequate.

Dryer was a bit noisy with a full load of wet clothes
As per the repair videos on the site, I searched the internet for a couple of supplementary videos just to make sure I was doing it correctly. It was was all pretty easy. Expect to vacuum out and clean out the interior of the dryer. Also, to make things easier, disconnect the bulkhead and exterior like in the video, but also keep the top flipped up until reassembling, it'll make it much easier. When reinstalling the belt, remember how the belt is going to go around the pulley, you'll have to do this without sight as the barrel will the way and you won't be able to see what you're doing. It's really not hard but just keep this in mind. Also, as you disassembling, it would help to snap some pictures of where each screw goes and how; reassembly was a tiny bit tricky as I didn't do this.

Squeaky
Followed youtube tutorials, pretty straightforward. Take pictures of where wires connect for door switch, light, et al. Have a shop-vac handy to vacuum all the dust, lint, dog hair, etc that's accumulated over the years inside the unit.My spreader c-clip pliers were not small enough to fit in the holes of those tiny c-clips,had to improvi se.Used steel wool to polish all roller shafts, Before re-installing drum and belt, orient yourself to this procedure by practicing threading belt properly before positioning the drum in your way!

broken dryer belt.
I followed the instructions on each part that was sent to me. I've taken the front and tumbler assembly off before, so that was already easy. The tip that is not offered that makes a huge difference in replacing the belt is this. Make sure that you take the belt out if the bag and let it rest for a few minutes before installing. Also, m ake sure that you have the ribbed side of the belt facing up on the tumbler. It is easier to get it right while the tumbler is out of the unit than when it's inside and you are working in a 1 foot section.

Noisy Drum while drying.
Replaced the wheels at the back and also the belt. ( I also removed the lint buildup around the drum felt and on the heating chamber and motor. That alone helped the noise problem. I did this prior to ordering parts, as I had taken it apart to see what the problem might be.)I don't have any additions to what I saw in the repair video. Tha t video showed me all I needed to do. Great video. First time the dryer has been worked on since it was purchased in about 1984. We were a family of 6, so its good stuff.

My drier was making rumbling noises.
I followed the video instructions, which were great by the way. Pretty easy to remove the front panel, then housing, then belt, then drum to expose drum support rollers and shafts. Removed old and replaced with new after cleaning lint up a bit. Unfortunately, there is still a bit of a rumble when the drier starts up. I fully expected the changed out parts to make a difference, but it was only a modest improvement. I need to do further trouble shooting and diagnosis.

Dryer would squeek loudly
Removed door, and front bezel. Write the colors of the wires next to the door switch and the moisture sensor on the bezel so that you can remove the wires, this makes it easier. Lifted top up and pulled drum out, but did not remove belt. Inspected wheels and roller shaft. Needed to replace (2) Roller Wheels, (1) Roller Shaft, (2) Retainin g Rings, & (2) Shaft Washers. Ordered parts from the site. Removed the Retaining rings. The retaining ring tool I bought from the hardware store did not fit the holes in the retaining ring, so I had to file the tips down. Once the retaining rings are removed, the washers and rollers come off easily. The Roller Shaft can be removed by loosening the nut on the back side of the shaft. Inserted new shaft and tightened nut, then replaced both rollers, and washers, and reinstalled the Retaining rings. Put drum back in place, tied all wires back in and reinstalled front bezel and door.

1st off, watch all the video's they supply even before you buy the parts. A lot of knowledge in them. It helped to ensure I bought the right parts to begin with. I removed the front of the machine, removed the brackets holding the lid down. Raised the lid, and did an inspection of everything. Removed the front so I could remove the drum. Once that was down, piece of cake. I got out the vacuum, vacuumed out everything, then moved to removing the rollers. Because my tool broke to remove the retaining clip from the front, I had to use a 1/2" wrench to removed the roller studs. Rebuilt the drum support rollers, and put them back on. Next was the idler pulley wheel and bearing and idler arm and shaft. Another piece of cake. I decided to not replace the front glide as it looked fine. NOW THE TRICKY PART. Putting the new belt on and putting the drum back in. Watched that video 4 times. Finally got it. Of the little over two hours, 30 minutes was spent on this part. Put everything back together from there a cake walk. YOU DO NOT NEED TO REMOVE ANY WIRES FROM ANYTHING EITHER. Hope this helps.

Dryer was very noisy due to worn drum rollers.
For belt installation, I found that pushing the belt rearward into the drum roller groove made it much easier to get the belt over the idler pulley. Once I had it over the idler pulley it was a simple matter to slide the belt forward into it's normal operating position.
