The water inlet valve is a solenoid-operated switch that, when activated, releases water from the supply line to the water valve and into the compact icemaker mold. This includes the valve and the bracket.

Water dripped after filling glass of water. New valve fixed problem.
Read instructions that came with new valve. Hardest part was positioning and attaching mounting plate to base of fridge and valve to mounting plate. Self tapping screws had to be be screwed into mounting plate before final install. Suggest adding tips to instructions about position of mounting plate and tapping screws before final install . Suggest using adjustable pliers to depress ring that allows tubing to be removed from valve if more effort than fingers provide.
