Ive had my Frigidaire double door for 8 yrs. Fridge portion was not cooling and stayed at room temperature although the freezer was just fine.
You could hear the evaporator fan kick on and off about 2-5 seconds at a time with little to no air output. Repair wasn't very difficult, remove all the racks, ( Little suggestion, u must remove the plastic black clip on the left rear portion of the top rack in order for it to come out.) drawers and railings as well. Remove the bolts hold ing the metal plating in the back of freezer. Mine has the ice maker so I had to tie up the top section to keep it in place to remove the fan. The wiring harness was different than the factory so I had to cut and splice the wires to install the new one. You'll also need to keep the little clip and rubber bushing from your old one to make the fan stay in the correct position. Put everything back as you did taking it off...

Freezer was not freezing at the top on a side by side refrigerator. refrigerator not cooling properly.
I removed the middle shelf in the freezer. Then I removed the lower, back panel by unscrewing 4 screws. This gave me access to the evaporator motor that simply sits on a ledge behind the panel. There were 3 wires connected by male and female slide connects (or clips). I disconnected these. One was simply a frame ground wire. I hooked the two wires up to 120 volts and the motor didn't work. The fan motor kit had two ground frame wires and two main wires that branched into more with harness. I cut out one ground frame wire and cut the harness out to just two basic wires coming from the motor. I stripped the end of these wires and installed male slide connects with electrical pliers. Before putting the fan back, I plugged in unit and the motor ran fine. I put the fan on the ledge, put the back cover on with 4 screws, and put the shelf back in the unit. I plugged in unit and put ice trays of water high and low in freezer. Unit works fine. The fan motor costs $35.00, shipping $6.15. Total $41.15. The clips cost $1.77 at Walmart. I feel good about the repair and now I am working on my dishwasher.

The freezer and refrigerator were cold at the bottom but warm at the top. The evaporater fan broke so it would not push the cold air down below up higher.
The connectors were wrong because the manufacturer updated the wiring harness for multiple units . I just had to splice the the old harness connector into the new fan being very careful to follow each wire of what it's purpose was ie....ground to ground, solenoid wire to solenoid wire , fan hot wire to fan hot wire.......and so on . I wou ld say on a difficulty level of 1-5 this is a lite 4. But if your a true do-it-yourselfer you will have a good time enjoying what your doing and your accomplishment whenits completed.
