Oven door hinges failed and striped screw holes in frame.
This repair requires nearly totally disassembling the range. It is not necessary to take apart any gas fittings. However at the point of removing the face frame the oven will not stand on it's own and what is left of the assembly is unstable. All but four screws were removed and at that point my wife steadied the range on it's back feet f or the replacement of the face frame. That part of the repair was a bit cumbersome due to the looseness of the frame and the insulation that is in the way of the screws to remove the face. It was a long process as all parts were cleaned while apart. You will need good mechanical knowledge and ability to assess the steps needed to accomplish this repair. The parts diagrams help to some degree. In most cases this repair would not be done by a professional as the cost would outweigh the cost of a new stove. We were fortunate to have the time and at least this stove did not end up in the landfill. You really only need a phillips screw driver and one nut driver. I used a battery operated driver for much of the repair but you have to be careful not to strip out the screws using it. Don't attempt this repair if you are not confident you can handle it. In this case the repair went well and the unit operated properly in the end, we will get many years of service as a result of the repair.
