Product Description

This is a switch for your refrigerator, but you may also know it as a door switch or a plunger light switch. This part turns your appliance light on and off as the door is opened and closed. If your current light does not turn on, it will need to be replaced. To make this repair you will need a Phillips head screwdriver, a putty knife, and a flat head screwdriver.

Light switch is plastic snap in. Went brittle over time and fell apart. Controls the interior light and the Door Ajar warning light.
Unplugged the freezer. Removed the front grille (two phillips screws) opened door to expose switch mounting hole. Snaked fishing line through hole and tied it off to the back end of the old switch where the terminals are. Pulled the old switch through the hole with the wires. Pulled the connectors off the old switch, pushed them onto the new one, pushed the new switch base through the mounting hole until it snapped into place. Closed door, plugged unit into power and replaced the grill. Use a magnetic screwdriver to replace the screws so you can better control them into the counter bored holes. You will notice that the "Door ajar" light is now off and the interior light comes on when the door is opened. Throw away the broken switch, pick up your tools and you're done.
