Product Description

This part is the replacement fresh food door gasket for your refrigerator. It is made of black rubber and is sold individually. The fresh food door gasket runs along the circumference of your refrigerator’s fresh food door and creates the seal that allows your refrigerator to regulate the temperature inside. If the gasket is worn, stretched, or damaged, your fridge may become too warm, and you may notice the door is sweating. The door also may not open or close properly because of a damaged gasket. To replace the gasket, carefully pull the old gasket out the grooves it fits in around the door. Press the new gasket into the same grooves snugly. This part is an OEM part from the manufacturer.

Appliance sweating on bottom of freezer and refrigerator doors
I changed the door gaskets for both compartments. Each gasket was distorted when unpacked. There was one online suggestion of placing the gaskets in a bath tub of warm water. I elected to lay the parts on a flat surface, (tile floor), and used a hair dryer to soften the rubber. Installing the gasket was simple. (1) unplug the refrige rator, (2) remove the old gasket. There are no fasteners, so pull a corner and the part will dislodge from its groove. (3) Install the new gasket in its groove, and press tightly to assure it is properly seated. have a second person assist for time efficiency. Make certain the inside and outside flaps of the gasket lay flat against the door for maximum sealing. (4) Install plug and start the refrigerator. Note: I read an online comment to check and clear vent holes at the bottom side of each door. This is on the bottom of the door, not easily visible. You must use a mirror and flashlight to see the vents. I noticed and removed shipping packing from three of six openings. I don't understand their purpose, but it made a noticeable improvement.
