Product Description

The 115-volt evaporator fan motor is in the back of the freezer section and circulates air over the coils. These coils will convert the heat into cool air, which is then circulated. If your freezer is noisy or too warm from the motor not working, you will need to replace this part. It is suggested to replace the thermistor when replacing the evaporator fan. This is a genuine OEM part – note the screw holes in the motor are not threaded from the factory, use your old screws. Please remember to disconnect the power to the refrigerator before starting your repair.

Problem: freezer fine . Fridge won’t stay cold enough. Set at 37.keeps going to 40 and higher

freezer ran all the time
The repair is pretty straight forward check video with this site . If your fan is working do not replace it, that was not the problem that was suggested. The thermostat sensor solved the problem.

Would not freeze
I removed the panel in back of freezer with Philips screw driver then unplugged the motor from the freezer wire harness and removed the evaporator fan motor bracket with a nutdriver. Then you need to remove the fan motor from the bracket. Next I pulled the old fan blades from the used motor and put them on the new fan motor and attached to the mounting bracket and reversed my processes.

Intermittent grinding noise
Unplug the freezer. Empty the freezer. Remove the shelves by removing the shelf spacers located on the right of each leg of each shelf and sliding them to the right, the left legs will pop out of their pockets, allowing removal. Remove the bottom tray assembly. Remove the 8 screws holding the back panel on (3 top, 2 center, 3 bottom). Y ou may have to defrost the bottom of the freezer before you can remove the bottom 3 screws. NOTE: The thermostat is connected to the back panel, so carefully pull it out to expose the evaporator fan. Remove the two bolts holding the evaporator fan motor in. Disconnect the evaporator fan motor wiring harness. Lift out the evaporator fan motor. Gently pull the fan of off its spindle. Install the fan onto the spindle of the new evaporator fan motor. Install the new evaporator fan motor using the two previously removed bolts. Reconnect the wiring harness. Re-install the rear panel. NOTE: Make sure the drain located at the bottom of the freezer is not clogged/frozen - if it is, clear/unclog it, Re-install the bottom tray and the shelves. Plug the freezer back in. Close the freezer and allow it to get cold again, re-stock.
