freezer wouldn't defrost.
Removed 2 screws at the base of the fan cover. Slide the cover upward and remove. Remove the ice maker (if applicable ). Remove 2 screws from the back panel and remove the panel. The defrost heater is located directly underneath the evap.coil. Bend inward the two tabs which hold the heater in place and remove the old heater. The defrost thermostat simply clips on to the evaporator tubing. A butt splice can be made to the existing wiring. BE SURE THAT YOU UNPLUG THE REFRIGERATOR BEFORE PERFORMING THE REPAIR.

Evaporator coil frozen
There were some good videos on u-tube that were helpful in trouble shooting what part/s may be defective. All u-tube videos stress in making sure the refrigerator is unplugged before doing any work on it. After determining the defrost thermostat was defective I placed an order for it and an evaporator fan motor. The fan motor was still wo rking but was starting to get noisy so it was a good time to replace too. It's best to take the evaporator fan assembly out as a unit to replace the fan motor. The motor plugs in and two screws on the mounting bracket are removed releasing the fan assembly. The wires going to the defrost thermostat will have to be cut and spliced. If the coil is frozen to the back panel a hairdryer may be used to defrost the coil. Overall, an easy fix.
