Dishwasher was not cleaning dishes well
Noticed that the dishwasher was not cleaning dishes well and that the tower was not rotating. Removed old tower and found that overall, it was in bad shape with lots of calcification and decided to replace it. The result was excellent. Dishes are now cleaned very well and performance of the dishwasher is as good as new (1987!). The re pair was fairly easy and instructions with the replacement part were excellent. The new tower is re-designed and much more effective than the old one. However, the new design means that you have to replace the pump connector (included with the tower) at least for some models. Removing and installing the pump connector is the challenging part. You remove the clamp that attaches the pump to the pump connector, remove the pump hanger bracket which allows you to lower the pump. That part is easy. However, the clearance to remove and install the pump connector is small. The best way is to work both at the pump and inside the tub, pushing the old connector out and making sure that the new one seats well. Then it is very easy to connect the pump again. Removing the pump connector takes some pushing, again since the space is so small. Installing the new tower takes 30 seconds, the whole job took me about 30 minutes including removing and replacing the dishwasher in the cabinet. In retrospect, although the instructions don't say this, it may be far easier to remove the pump and then deal with the pump connector removal and replacement. You've taken almost all of the steps needed to remove the pump already -- you simply have to remove one more clamp at the back of the pump and the wiring which are easy connectors to work with. The pump that I am using is also from this site. Replaced pump a few years ago and it works great!

The Lower Spray Tower broke
Unscrewed the old tower unit, it definitely took some strength to break it free, screwed the new part in and in a few minutes the dishwasher was back and working again.
