Water inlet for ice maker freezing up
In California we have some pretty hard water. I found that calcium build up kept my ice maker water valve from closing completely (through trial and error). Unplug refrigerator and turn off water supply to fridge. Also, Remove ice bin and turn off ice maker switch inside freezer.1) pull fridge out in order to access panel on bottom. 2) U

nplug refrigerator. 3)take entire access panel at bottom off. 4) At the bottom left there is a light blue water valve unit held in place by one small 1/4" screw on the bracket. Once you remove screw, twist the unit up to release it from the fridge frame. Now you can access all electrical connection and hoses. 5) Remember to turn off water supply to fridge. With an adjustable wrench, remove the water supply line from valve. Have a bowl handy to catch water that will drain from supply line (1/2 cup). 6) there are two water lines on top of unit. Push one line into unit and hold down the retaining ring at base of line. Then pull line out. It should come out fairly easy while you are holding down retaining ring. Remove both lines this way (have a towel handy for excess water. 7) gently work electrical connections off. There is only one way these can go on so don't worry (take a picture if you have to). 8) push new water lines into position, reinstall electrical, attach supply line and screw back in place. If your ice maker is frozen up, use a hair dryer to remove any ice that may be in the line. Also try and dry as much melted water in the freezer. This could freeze and stop parts on the ice maker from working properly. Once everything is back in place. Turn on water supply, Plug in fridge. Open freezer- turn ice maker on and press the paddle in three times to reset ice maker. Install bin. Run some water through the door to remove air in line. Good luck. Pretty easy fix.

Frozen water line in ice maker
Water line in ice maker kept freezing (we have hard water). Internet searches revealed problem to likely be leaking water valve due to hard water deposits. Replaced water valve and problem resolved.

No water was coming to the ice maker or the water outlet on the door
Very simple job. All you need is a nut driver and an adjustable wrench. The whole job can be done in a matter of 15 minutes. This probably saved me $150 service call.
