This is an evaporator fan motor, located in the freezer compartment. It is sold as a single unit. It is responsible for moving air over the evaporator coils as the compressor is running. When this part is faulty you may hear loud sounds coming from the freezer area, your refrigerator may not stay as cold as normal, or the ice might take longer to freeze. This 115-volt 60Hz evaporator fan motor measures approximately 6.75 inches deep, 3.25 inches wide and 2.5 inches high. Do not forget to disconnect the power to the refrigerator before you begin this repair.

On this model there are two fans top and bottom, is the motor the same? Is this something the home owner could replace? Thanks

Hello Ted, Thank you for the question. The Top fan is the Evaporator Fan, Fix Number: FIX10063450 and the bottom is the Condenser Fan, Fix Number: FIX11721902. The Fan motors are different. Most customers have been able to perform the repair on their own. We hope this helps!
Wondering if this part will stop endless noise . Temperatures for freezer and lower fridge are good. But when running it is hours at a time. Sometimes all day or all night. Noise is annoying. Medium level.

Unplug power, remove several parts to access the fan motor located at the back of the freezer section. Disconnect fan motor. Remove impeller from motor shaft. Reassemble all parts. Very easy repair.
Removed all content of freezer. Unplugged refrigerator. Removed ice rack and back deflector panel including Styrofoam piece. Removed freezer back panel. All simple push and pull or screw attachments. Used Phillip's head screw driver to remove two screws holding the face guard in place and the 6" Crescent wrench to remove the bracket holding the fan motor to the bracket and the Phillip's head screw driver to remove two screws holding the bracket to the inside rear of the freezer. Unplugged the wasted motor AC/DC Evaporator Fan and plugged the new one into its place. Reinstalled all hardware as it came out. Refrigerator is now working like new. If you find the evaporator fan is blowing the air into the freezer compartment, then carefully remove the evaporator fan from the evaporator motor, turn it over and re-attach it again. It should blow the air into the refrigerator at this point.
I just followed the "how to" videos which were very helpful with one exception. I turned off the circuit breaker in the garage rather than pull the fridge out from the wall to unplug it which was easier. This also eliminated the need to raise the leveling feet so the rollers would touch the floor for a pull out. I replaced the grommets

Unplug fridge. remove center piece, 2 screws. Remove 2 screws from icemaker, slide it foreward. Pull styrofoam out of centerpiece. Remove 2 screws from back and take it out.
