Product Description

This genuine OEM light switch is used to control the light in your refrigerator. When the fridge door is closed, it depresses the switch and turns the light off. When the fridge door opens, it releases the switch, and the light turns on. If the light is staying on when the door is closed, or the light is not on at all, there may be an issue with the switch. The part can be tested with a multimeter to determine if it is defective. Please be sure to disconnect the power supply to your fridge before beginning this repair.

Lights stayed on all the time causing the box to heat on the inside.
The lever on the old switch broke off. I popped out the old one with a small screw driver, pulled the cables off with needle nose and reversed the process.

Item fell onto and snapped off the slight switch from the switch housing. Needed to replace the elite switch.
First I watched a short repair video on this site which described how to replace the switch. Super easy BUT it would have taken me a lot longer had I not know the 'secret' to get4ting the switch out easily. Replacing with the new was a snap.

Light switch was broken. Refrigerator side not cooling.
Removed the light switch with some pliers and a screwdriver, disconnected the wires. After that I connected the wires to the new switch and put it back into the slot and presto it worked

bowl fell off the upper shelf and came down and broke the light switch on the door
ordered replacement part, followed others suggestions on not letting wires go free, attached it to new one and plugged it in. Voila ! Done.

Light would not work after dropping milk carton on it.
Unplugged refrigerator. Used small screwdriver to pop out switch. Used small needle nose pliers to remove wires one at a time switching them to the new switch. Popped switch back into hole. Plugged back in refrigerator. Light worked. Whole operation was less than 10 minutes.

I purchased 5 sensors and the door switch. a $50.00 investment. Four sensors were located under small plastic grills The grills just popped off. I soldered all the new sensor connections and used shrink wrap. I have no worries about moisture, corrosion. or shorts. The door switch installed in 2 minutes. The problem was intermitt ent So far I have not had any more refrigerator cooling problems. A good investment considering replacement cost of $1800..
