Oven element had actually melted when it had been turned on.
followed what the repair video had showed by taking out the two screws and unhooked the wires and plugged in the new element, replaced the screws and done. turned the oven on and cooked dinner right away. saved a big repair bill to a serviceman and service trips, one to come out and check the range and one to replace the element. probably

Pull element out 2 inches, enough to see the wiring and friction fit clips attached to element. Detach clips from element. Remove old element. Install new element. Re-attach friction fit clips to element. Screw Phillips head screws to hold element in place. Replace oven racks. Close door. Plug stove back in, or turn breaker back on. To test, turn selector to oven, turn oven temp. to 350 degrees. See the new element glow bright red. Push range back in. You've just completed the install.

... Read more connectors were 'burnt' as well. I replaced the old female connectors, making sure they were 'crimped' tightly. I then installed the replacement oven element, and tightened the retains screw, firmly. I replaced the back cover, plugged in the power, wiggled the stove back into place, and baked oatmeal raisin cookie for New years Eve.
Replacement really simple. Remove two screws to release the element and then just pull the wire clips off each end. Then place wire clips back on the new element push element back in place. Line up the screws and tighten them. Job done and working. Price was very reasonable and received fedex in 3 days. Highly recommend this site
I removed both racks out of the oven. Used a phillips screw driver to remove the two retaining screw and pulled the element out. I disconnected the two attached wires from broken heating element.
