Product Description

The defrost heater is similar to the burners on an electric stove. It's located just beneath the cooling coils, which are concealed behind a panel in the freezer compartment. The heater gets hot. And, because it's close to the cooling coils, any ice or frost build-up melts.

no defrost cycle
removed covers to access part.....de-iced coils....found defrost element was threaded through two plates on condenser coils and not enough play to slide it out the end....used snips to make a slit to open the one plate and came out....reinstalled new part....reassembled covers

Fresh food section was not cooling and ice was building up in freezer.
Unplug the the refrigerator from the wall, let de-ice and removed bottom and back panel from freezer section. Raised the coil unit from back wall and unplugged the defrost heater, Removed defrost heater from coils and replaced with new one. Re-attached defrost heater to coils and to back wall of freezer and plugged it back in. Replaced bo ttom and back panel and plugged refrigerator back into wall and reset thermostat. Refrigerator has been fine for the past 3 days.
