dryer would not start
called sears parts guy, he said thermostat nor high limit thermostat would cause dryer not to start. Had to be timer or door safety switch,. Checked door kill switch by sticking butter knife in switch. Got dizzy looking at blueprints. trying to trace down different functions of timer switch..Took timer switch off and shook it -- it rat tled! Said a prayer and ordered new timer switch from this site New timer switch worked perfectly. Then I took apart old timer switch and realized one of the plastic cams had separated from timer dial. If you carefully take apart the timer switch it won't flop out and spring into a million pieces. It is a simple mechanical device with plastic innards, Dryer is working now. Wife happy, me happy. But I have the old timer on my list of things to repair if I retire and get bored.

Well , it took me 3 times to figured it out because I didnt do enough research on youtube , I have replaced the heather element first and that wasnt it, then I replaced the thermostat that was bad but that didnt fix it either finally I saw a youtube video about how to test the timer and that was it, now I know for next time but it was an easy fix overall

Customer:
Mark from Capitol Heights, MD
Parts Used:
WPW10185972
Difficulty Level:
Really Easy
Total Repair Time:
Less than 15 mins
Tools:
Nutdriver
Dryer short cycled and would not heat up.
Using a nutdriver I simply removed a total of eight screws, six from the rear of the top console, the two holding the timmer inplace. Disconnected the wires from the timmer. The small flathead screwdriver was used to disconnect the smallest of the wire plugs, by raising the housing just above the tab that locked the plug inplace. Installe d the new timmer. Reconnected everything in the reverse. Took less then ten minutes and Dryer works like new! Tip: check with customer service to comfrim you are ordering the correct part number needed. You'll be glad you did.
