Product Description

This multi rib belt is an OEM replacement part for a dryer. It attaches to the drum, idler pulley, and motor pulley, and is responsible for spinning the drum. Over time, the belt can become frayed, brittle, and inflexible. If you can hear the motor running, but the drum does not turn, it is likely that the belt is broken. Other symptoms of a broken multi rib belt include unusual noises, failing to start, no heat, a burning smell, and an unresponsive touchpad. Depending on the model, you will find the belt by looking behind the front panel or under the main top of the dryer. This belt is 1/4-inches wide, has a length of 92-1/4-inches, and has four ridges and three groves on the belt. Each belt is sold separately.

Dryer drum would not tumble (rotate)
Take out dryer screen, and remove 2 retaining screws. Use putty knife to push both clips on the front corners of the top of the dryer to lift top off. The front of the dryer only has 2 retaining screws around where the clips are to remove the top. Remove those screws then lift up to disengage the hooks the front is sitting on. The dru m should hang freely. Remove old belt/idler pulley assembly. When the new belt and pulley assembly are installed (slide the new belt around the drum, through the pulley assembly and around the shaft to the motor), rotate the drum a couple times to make sure it is lined up correctly. Then reassemble the dryer.

Squealing noise when running, bad motor bearing; needed new motor.
The instructional videos that this site provides are really great and most helpful. If changing a motor or blower, it will tell you to hold the motor shaft while loosening the blower, (CAUTION: left hand thread). Those instructions would be great for a dryer that is almost new but the likelihood of needing to change the motor or blower wheel on a fairly new dryer would be slim. Because my dryer was not new, as I suspect most needing repairs aren't, I ended up doing what most everyone else had to do and that is,cut the shaft that extends into the blower wheel because that blower wheel absolutely refuses to break free from the motor shaft, most likely because it's seized onto the shaft, probably caused by years of moist air in the blower tunnel, (too bad the factory doesn't put a dab of Never Seize on the threads before assembling it when new). In any case, if you determine that you need a new motor, do yourself a favor and order a new blower wheel at the same time, then plan on cutting the old one off if it fails to budge on your first attempt. I used a Milwaukee M12 Hackzall, which is their smaller mini cordless reciprocating saw, with a 6" blade. A six inch blade is just long enough that it will flex, allowing the space required to get in between the blower and the end of the motor. You might be able to get a full size reciprocating saw in there although it will be tougher. Be careful not to destroy the felt seal on the cabinet wall that keeps the lint out of the main cabinet. Once the motor and blower are free of each other, the rest is simple and quick. If I spent two and a half hours completing the repair, 90% of that was trying to unscrew the blower from the motor. This site is great to do business with, from their large inventory, to their great web site, service, and delivery. Great company!

Rubber on support roller was breaking and rubbing off. Replaced belt while in there.
Pulled belt off rollers removed drum from dryer then replaced. Removed bad roller. Hardest part was getting the triangle past the first groove to the second. Cleaned shaft with towel and greased with lithium then put roller and second triangle on. Put drum back in and hook belt back on. I watched a video on you tube that showed step by st ep.

taking it apart was easy the hard part was removing excess plastic from D shaped hole in wheel. There is so much plastic in center hole that it will not seat on shaft. I had to use a drill and dove tail file to do this project. F.Y.I. this was the second wheel the first i broke when it was half way on the shaft tap lightly my friend.

Dryer was screeching
Very simply followed the instructional videos on the website. Their step by step instructions were easy to follow and the video detail was great. I found the website in a search for diagnosing a noisy dryer. Once I saw the videos and ordered the parts I couldn't wait to complete the repair. It took less then an hour and the dryer runs fin e. I hope to get many more years out of it and have no fear that in the future I can complete other repairs if need be.
