Broke the selector switch off its mount.
PROPER TOOLS are essential. In my case it was a #2 Phillips head screw driver. Cooktop required going underneath countertop. TURN OFF POWER TO COOKTOP. There is a lot of bending and stooping in this job, not recommended if you have a bad back! VERY easy replacement of part. Once loosening screws that secure cooktop to countertop, push co

oktop upward. Oil grunge may create a temp seal. You will encounter oil grunge and other stuff from prior cooking, may add to repair/cleanup time. Once you have pushed the cooktop from underneath out of counter set it close by. Now remove all screws from frame holding the cooktop GLASS, in my case there were 10 (ten). Lift the frame and glass up and off the heating elements. It may be difficult due to the oil grunge. MAKE SURE ALL SCREWS ARE REMOVED FROM FRAME. You will now see an enclosure box that will have INSIDE innards of the part that you want to replace. REMOVE THE COVER. LOOK AT YOUR REPLACEMENT PART. POWER OFF. REMOVE THE ELECTRICAL WIRES, unscrew the broken part. REINSTALL and reverse re-installation. SAVED ME $250 for DIY.
